News: Blue Mountains Railway Celebrates 150 years
Last weekend marked 150 years since the first regular passenger train travelled from Penrith to Weatherboard (known today as Wentworth Falls).
To celebrate this historic occasion, a steam train from the NSW Rail Museum operated last Friday 21 July from Central
to Wentworth Falls, where passengers alighted for a special ceremony held adjacent to the station, hosted by the Wentworth
Falls Chamber of Commerce and Valley Heights Locomotive Depot Heritage Museum. Close to 3,000 people enjoyed
this and the many heritage train shuttles held on Saturday at Penrith and again on Sunday at Lawson.
The event attracted much publicity including from 7 News - see report below.
Special thanks to all the staff and volunteers from NSW TrainLink, NSW Rail Museum, and
Valley Heights Locomotive Depot Heritage Museum who helped make the weekend's events possible.
