Meeting Reports

November 2008 meetings

  • Wed 12 Nov 2008 CityRail Office, Green Pde, Valley Heights 8pm-10pm
  • Sat 29 Nov 2008 Katoomba Neighbourhood Centre, 8 Station St, Katoomba 1pm-3pm

I can understand that you all have pressures on you other than discussing rail matters that appear not have an immediate result whether it be your particular service or other timetable issues, overcrowding longer journey time but I would appreciate your attendance this November, as we have to confirm the actions of the executive.

We have indicated to Phil Koperberg that we will not accept any increase in fares there are many reasons for this these are included in the Association’s submission to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal IPART submission will be on our website soon I will email to those with this facility next week

What is a major concern is the Restructure of RailCorp under a new Act this is the third in ten years this is beside the internal restructures of RailCorp e.g. Restructure of City Rail Operations. Of course none of these restructures improve the Capacity of the Rail System on the Western Line We are seeking expansion of the Penrith St Marys Rail tracks to four under the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Australia Programme.

We are still waiting on RailCorp to arrange consultation with commuter groups but this has been cancelled at present because of the New Act of Parliament due to be tabled this month, the other issues is the Refurbishment of the Intercity Cars this is vital for the future of rail services on the Mountains and we will pursue this issue.

The N.S.W. Government is to table a minibudget on the 11th November by the meeting on the 12th we should have a good idea what we will be looking as far as transport is concerned. Yes More Work for Commuter Associations.

I have fond it a very difficult and time consuming this year we did not have a quorum at the Katoomba Meeting I hope you can come this November of course we need support for Valley Heights If you can suggest suitable changes for next year please comment
